Dr. Fernando Ceron earned his medical degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), specifically as a surgeon. He is a Digestive Surgeon certified by the Mexican Board of General Surgery and the Mexican Board of Gastroenterology.
Dr. Ceron was the president of the Mexican Association of Endoscopic Surgery from 2004 to 2005, as well as the Mexican Society of Obesity Surgery. As a Certified Bariatric Laparoscopic Surgeon, he has conducted over 3,000 bariatric laparoscopic surgeries, including gastric bypass, gastrectomy, and now laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, in the last 22 years. He is also certified to conduct laparoscopic surgery and adjustable gastric banding at Lyon’s Hospital Sauvergarde Clinique.
Dr. Ceron was the first surgeon in Mexico to conduct obesity surgery in institutional hospitals as part of an obesity treatment programme. He is regarded as a leader in Weight Loss Surgery in Cancun, Mexico, and is one of the three initial Bariatric pioneers that launched Laparoscopic Bariatric Surgery in Mexico.
Dr Cerón is a highly talented surgeon who is well-known in his area. He maintains current on new treatments and is a member of professional organisations such as the International Federation for Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Diseases (IFSO).
