Dr Pedro Kuri, the creator of the Lap-Band System in Latin America, has conducted over 5,000 surgeries as a recognised specialist in his profession over the previous 11 years. In 1981, he completed a surgical residency at the National Medical Centre in Mexico City. From 1981-1984, he was a General Surgeon at Tijuana Baja California Hospital No.20, from 1982 until 1991, he was the Chairman of Surgery at Tijuana General Hospital, Tijuana General Hospital’s Division of Surgery Chairman from 1986 until 1992 and did Laparoscopic Surgeon specialising in the Lap-Band technique from 1998 onwards.

• In 1975, he was board certified as a general surgeon.

Dr. Pedro Kuri has various certifications including membership of the Mexican Medical Society of Obesity Surgery, general surgery and Endoscopy surgery.
