Established in 1999, Georgetown Bariatric Institute, previously known as Georgetown Bariatrics and Advanced Surgical Services, has been committed to individualized weight loss. Under the guidance of Dr. Eric F. Smith, who has completed over 5,000 bariatric procedures, the multidisciplinary team includes surgeons, physician assistants, nurses, dietitians, psychologists, exercise physiologists and insurance coordinators. Dr. Eric F. Smith, DO, FASMBS: Dr. Smith is a board-certified general, bariatric and robotic surgeon who has been practicing since. 2006. Dr. Smith has a multitude of designations including, SRC Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery, SRC Master Surgeon in Bariatric & Metabolic Surgery.
Dr. Sarah Hayek, MD, MEd: Dr. Hayek is joining the team to help increase access to robotic bariatric and general surgery. She completed her medical education and residency in Pennsylvania, having performed surgeries for over two years.
Heather Pile, PA-C: A board-certified physician assistant, Heather has been practicing in bariatrics since 2011, helping patients prepare and adjust to their pre-operative and post-operative lifestyles.
Allen Sizemore, DNP, APRN, NP-C: Allen graduated from Vanderbilt University with a doctoral degree in nursing. He has many years of experience, including over 13 supporting patients on medical and surgical weight loss journeys. Allen’s main background is in family medicine.
Anne-Margaret Brown, MSN, APRN, FNP-C: Anne-Margaret specializes in medication management, personalized plans and comprehensive assessments, and offers nutritional counseling.
Susan Nutter, PMHNP-BC: As a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner, Susan deals with psychological aspects of weight loss surgery to provide comprehensive patient care.
Mary Morgan, RD, LD: Registered dietitian and over 12 years with the institute. Mary provides nutritional support to assist you in meeting your health and wellness goals.
Lyndsay Dixon, RDN, LDN, CDN: Specializing in weight management and general nutrition, Lyndsay supports individuals through informed nutritional education.
