Description:
Juan Pedro Fernandez received his MSc in Chemistry from Universidad Complutense de Madrid (2001), and his PhD from the Instituto de Ciencia y Tecnología de Polímeros (CSIC) in Madrid for his dissertation titled “Synthesis, phase transition, and orientation effect in liquid crystal polymers.” Following his PhD, he worked at the Instituto de Ciencia y Tecnología de Polímeros in 2006 and 2007.
In 2008, he was a postdoctoral researcher at Florida State University’s College of Engineering in Tallahassee. He received a postdoctoral scholarship from the Von Humboldt Foundation in 2009 for his research at the Max Planck Institut für Polymerforschung in Mainz, where he worked till the end of 2011. He is currently employed as a postdoctoral researcher at the IMDEA Materials Institute. His thesis research focused on the characterization of phase transition, mechanical characteristics, and orientation effects in novel liquid crystal polymers.
Throughout his career, Dr. Fernández-Blázquez has published approximately twenty scientific papers in SCI journals, collaborated on many publications, and attended over 30 national and international conferences.
Surgeon’s Cost:
Dr. Fernández-Blázquez worked with organic characterization techniques (NMR, FT-IR, etc.) as well as polymer characterization techniques (GPC,DSC, TGA, DMA, among others) and X-Ray diffraction techniques in the development of this research, performing many of these experiments in the HASYLAB and ESRF synchrotron in Hamburg and Grenoble, respectively. During his time at FSU, he investigated the impact of structural flaws on the crystallisation and mechanical properties of polyethylene, polypropylene, and copolymers.
His research at the Max Planck Institut für Polymerforschung focused on creating nanostructured polymer surfaces using oxygen plasma. The management of thermal and mechanical histories in polymer films allows for diverse surface nanostructures. His services costs include:
