Dr. Suresh Koneru was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, and returned home after completing his specialized surgical training to establish his practice. He began his education with an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, then completed his medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA).

After medical school, he completed internship and residency training in General Surgery at the Hospital of St. Raphael at Yale University Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut, followed by specialized residency training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at University Hospitals of Cleveland, studying under leading cosmetic, hand, and reconstructive surgeons.

Throughout his training, Dr. Koneru participated in multiple medical research studies and co-authored medical textbook chapters. He also helped launch what is believed to have been the first plastic surgery educational website in 1994.
