Background and History

HL Med Spa was founded by Leilan Chaves, originally from São João do Manteninha, MG, Brazil, who graduated from a Japanese hair school in Ipatinga, MG, in 2003. After immigrating to the United States, she founded the first five-star beauty salon and spa in Newark, NJ — transforming the city’s beauty and wellness landscape with a level of sophistication previously unavailable to the community.

Over 20 years, her practice evolved into the full-service luxury medical spa that is HL Med Spa today, expanding from beauty services into medical aesthetics, wellness, hormone therapy, weight management, and advanced technology treatments.
