Hello everyone. My name is Megan Kirkland, I’m 45 years old, from East Tennessee, and I am a recent patient of Dr.Qs. I had gastric sleeve done 09/22/2026. I will be one week post op tomorrow (09/29/2026) I have nothing except excellent reviews to give to Dr.Q and team! I say team because it DOES take a team! From the beginning (scheduling/paperwork) to the end, they were right there with me. I am not tech savvy. I was having a problem sending my FMLA paperwork. They called me up and explained to me how to do it. (Without making me feel like I was dumb.) I did what they said and it went thru. Now, I have never flown or been out of the country. The farthest west I have been is to middle Tn. Major trip for me! Dr.Q and team made me feel very comfortable the whole way. I was sent a pic of my chauffer that picked me up from San Diego. (09/21/2026) I arrived at the medical center.(About 30 mins after pick up.) Where I completed paperwork and had labs done for the surgery the next day. The team made sure I had everything I needed. I met Dr.Q, we went over my medical history and prepped me for surgery. Surgery went great! I have worked in a hospital for 9 years. I know how things work. I’ve had surgeries at UT medical, Blount Memorial, Sweetwater, and Methodist. I will say this was the cleanest facility that I have been in. They have a filtration system for their water. Showering and drinking. (I didn’t have any complications/complaints in the states. I want to give you a comparison.) After surgery the team was there for me. Taking vitals, making sure I was comfortable. You have to start walking asap. They motivated me when I needed it (I did not want to walk. lol) They let me rest when I needed to. Most of all, they made me feel like I was family and I mattered. All while giving me excellent medical care. They took me out for an hour or so to the beach; a little gift shopping. I had nutrition classes. The best popsicles’ ever! When I left Friday morning (09/25/2026) I was sad. It really felt like I was leaving family. I have been lucky that I have not had any nausea or major issues. Yes, I hurt and am still a little sore. I’ve only had to take Tylenol for the last 4 days for pain. There are other meds you have to take to protect your stomach/immune system. Every person’s body is different. I have a total of 2 weeks off from work. I’m feeling great!! Let me tell you why I chose to go out of the country to Dr.Q. I have excellent private health insurance. However, it does not pay anything for this surgery. I am just your average U.S citizen. Not rich by any means. If you see their post on social media with Megan, wearing a pink shirt. You can defiantly tell I’m not an actress and/or model. This surgery would’ve cost me about $10,000 in the states. I had it done for about half of that. Dr.Q and team put patient safety first and provided excellent service and care. We all deserve to have the best, safest, surgeries possible. No matter our status and/or financial wealth. I want people to know that there are other safe options outside of the U.S. I’ve known 2 people, about 30 years, that had the same surgery as me with Dr.Q . Their results have been great also. So, I decided to take that chance. I’m sooooo GLAD that I did! 10/10 recommend Dr.Q and team! (Dr.Sergio Quinones Metabolic Surgery Center) I would do it again in a heartbeat. Zero regrets! THANK you so much for taking excellent care of me Dr.Q and team!!!
