Born and raised in San Antonio, TX, Dr. Suresh Koneru completed his specialized surgical training and returned to his hometown to start his practice. His education started with an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland and a medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA).

Upon completion of medical school, he served internship and residency in General Surgery at the Hospital of St. Raphael at Yale University Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut under the tutelage of top cosmetic, hand, and reconstructive surgeons and then spent his specialty residency training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at University Hospitals of Cleveland.

During his training, Dr. Koneru was involved in several medical research studies and was the co-author of medical textbook chapters. He was also the founder of what is thought to be the first plastic surgery educational website, in 1994. He has held many roles as President of the San Antonio International Society of Plastic Surgeons, as the Former Chairman of the Department of Plastic Surgery at Baptist Health System, as the Former Chief of Staff at Southeast Baptist Hospital and as the Chief of Plastic Surgery at Christus Alamo Heights Surgical Hospital.
