Dr. Mona Misra, MD, FACS is a board-certified general surgeon in both Canada and the USA and has been performing advanced laparoscopic, bariatric and endoscopic procedures for over 13 years. Before moving to California, she was an assistant professor of surgery at McMaster University and held several leadership positions in laparoscopic and bariatric surgery at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton, ON, including Co-Director of the Bariatric Surgery Program and Associate Director of the Center for Minimal Access Surgery (CMAS). She was also Co-Founder of the Canadian Institute of Bariatric Options (CIBO), one of “Laparoscopic” Dr. Misra’s former patients the first multidisciplinary outpatient weight loss programs in Canada. Dr. Misra is certified in DaVinci Robotic Surgery, Advanced Laparoscopic Skills and Advanced Cardiac Life Support. She is involved in national and international presentations, and is currently involved in the study of the relationship between bariatric surgery and type II Diabetes.
