Background and History

Impact Family Wellness was founded by Monica McKitterick, FNP-BC, after a decade in the traditional insurance-based healthcare system left her frustrated and unable to provide the kind of care she believed in. Seeing 30+ patients per day and spending only 3–5 minutes with each one was, in her words, “not why she went into healthcare.” After relocating to Texas and discovering the Direct Primary Care model, she opened Impact Family Wellness in Cedar Park, starting with just 23 patients.

The practice grew steadily through word-of-mouth and community engagement. By 2021, the practice had expanded to multiple locations. By the time of her feature in the Nursepreneurs podcast, she had grown to over 800 members. Today the practice serves over 1,800 members across three locations.
