Background and History
Carolyn “Carrie” Wise, ARNP, established PNW Optimal Health in 2020 after providing care to the Yakima Valley for 20 years since 1999. Carrie started her career as a nurse and nurse practitioner, and has extensive experience in the emergency department. During this period, she saw that many chronic health problems, especially weight gain, fatigue and metabolic dysfunction are very much linked to lifestyle habits which were not commonly seen in traditional medicine as a whole entity.
To bridge that divide, she went back to Gonzaga University and earned her Master’s in Nursing in 2017, while also working full-time in the emergency department, and started PNW Optimal Health as a place to provide the patient care she knew patients needed but didn’t have that could only be provided in a holistic, individualized way. Over the past few years, the clinic has expanded to now offer services provided by five providers, and it is a great resource for individualized wellness care in the Yakima area.
